Meet the Canon 7D

by Wayne

So you’re saving your hard earned recession pennies for the 5D Mark II, eh? Well don’t go swiping that visa just yet. As with any other technology, as soon as you buy a new camera – it’s automatically obsolete, on sale, and ’so last year’ as soon as you open the packaging. For the last 11 months the 5Dm2 has been the pinnacle of DSLR/HDV prosumer market. It’s reign as the big daddy will soon share the spotlight with the introduction of the new 7D from Canon. The manufacturer has yet to even acknowledge its existence. When a huge corporation makes a new product it’s nearly impossible to keep it under wraps, especially in Asia. My only beef is that it appears to have a cropped sensor, either 1/3 or 2/3, while the 5Dm2 is full frame 35mm. I’d still hold out for the 5Dm2.Naaa, upon further research, this is the camera to beat. Granted it’s not full-frame, but the cropped sensor is better suited to film-type lenses, it has insane high ISO capabilities and a super advanced 19 point AF system. Add on top of that manual control of exposure and aperture while shooting video. I’m sold. Now, who out there wants to buy my janky old 30D?
